About Me

My name is James and welcome to my about page. Here you will find some information about myself that will let you know who I am and what my motivations are and ultimately if I check all the right boxes and we can become friends.

I love people

There are amazing people around every corner of the world and I absolutely love meeting new people and getting to know them better. I believe one of the most important things I can do in this world make lasting relationships.

I like technology

When it comes to iPhones, TVs, and the internet I’m just like you. I like to sit down, relax, and get into a good show or catchup on my friends activities. What I like even more is how I use technology to the betterment of myself and the people around me.

I grow thinkers

Every person has unique abilities that can be used to change their world. I see potential in people and I help them realize it by turning them into thinkers who use mindfulness to help them become the person they’ve always dreamt about becoming.

My Story

I spent a large part of my life unconscious. I didn’t think. I didn’t make decisions.

I just was.

This did not turn out well for me.

Life was bewildering. People were confusing. I was in the dark, all of the time.

I was selfish, stupid and blind, stumbling and flailing through life. I don’t think I was malicious, but I was destructive. Looking back, I know I caused a lot of people to suffer and created havoc for many others.

This all changed one day on my back porch. I remember it being the very time I turned toward my experience with intention and awareness. I had made a lot of good changes in my life, but I was still struggling. The bare minimum had seemed like a big step for me, but I knew it wasn;t enough.

I was trying to quit smoking, the one addiction that had escaped me. I would always make it a day or two before panicking and running to the store up the street for cigarettes.

This one day, for some reason, I sat back down for a moment instead of running out to my car to buy another pack of cigarettes that i smoke one or two out of before throwing in the dumpster.

I just sat there. I noticed what was around me, what the temperature and the wind felt like. I looked at the fence and my dogs in the yard. I searched through my body, looking for the place where the need for a cigarette was centered, where the suffering originated.

And there was nothing there.

It was all in my imagination.

There was no need.

I realized that I felt fine, that everything was okay. The only thing that was causing me to suffer was my comparisons about how good it would feel to smoke a cigarette, my fears about waiting too long and the store closing. None of it existed in the moment.

In the moment, everything was fine.

This led me to study and deepen the practice of examining the mind and emotions, of learning to sit with everything that life could throw it at me. This remains my passion to this day.

I spend my life helping people find this same peace and acceptance that I began to find in my backyard that day. I work with people to cultivate equanimity and intentionality in how they live. I walk with them as they develop compassion for themselves and everyone else in their lives. I help people get right with life because life isn’t going to lift a finger to get right with them.

It’s a good gig. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Meditation Instruction

Everything in our lives is the result of what we think, yet we spend very little time actually being aware of our thoughts. Mediation doesn’t have to be religious or mystical, at its core it is a simple training of the mind. It can help us be aware of our thoughts without judging them and sit with our emotions no matter how strong or overwhelming they may feel.
